This was done for a contest at Amateur Illustrator [link] to design a creature that evolved the ability to travel in space. This is a rather silly take on the concept, but was a lot of fun to do and gave me more practice drawing and painting on the computer. The actual full name for this is "The frog that can jump very, very high and hold its breath for a really long time," but I guess "The Frog" will do.
Sketched a few times on paper, but the final was redrawn and painted from scratch in Painter IX.
lol, that is a hilarious idea. I like the original title better.
At first I thought it was a giant frog standing on the earth. Maybe if it as a whole or its legs were positioned a bit more off the earth, it would be clearer that it is floating through space.
I hope he can hold his breath long enough to make it to another atmosphere, heh.
Thanks and yeah, the looong title is so much better.
I think if the right leg was just outside the rim of the Earth it would probably clear that up. I didn't think it would be an issue when I drew it because I intended to make the Earth much duller than the frog and figured that would push it back. But the dull Earth didn't read too well as "The Earth."
And don't worry, he can hold his breath for a REALLY long time. Haha.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
